Advice for travelling with your pet
The Pet Travel Scheme (PETS) is the system that allows pet dogs, cats and ferrets from certain countries to enter the UK without quarantine as long as they meet the rules which are in place to keep the UK free from rabies and certain other diseases.
It also means that people in the UK can take their dogs, cats and ferrets to other European Union (EU) countries, and return with them to the UK. The scheme allows return travel to the UK without the need for quarantine.
Our Official Veterinarian status enables us to assist with export to other countries. To be properly prepared, visit the Gov.uk website for full details and guidelines.
In the event of a no deal Brexit, those who are planning to travel with pets after 29th March 2019 should contact the surgery at least four months in advance to check what they need to do.
